Birthday Celebrations.

Western Tradition: Birthday

birthday

some adults loathe Birthday celebrations as it reminds them they are getting progressively older.

In a dark room some one brings in a cake decorated with lighted candles to indicate the age of the person whos birthday is being celebrated. this person blows out the candles in one breath, makes a silent wish and when cuuting the cake, screams/ or crys out when the knife hits the bottom.

Balloons and colourful paper traditionally decorate the room in which the celebration takes place. This space is visited by the guests and person honoured as well as, perhaps, a magician, clown or entertainer.

Significant Birthdays are associated with certain rights or responsibilities such as the right to vote, the leagl age to buy alcohol, buy cigarettes, lottery tickets; the age of consent. “A Golden Birthday” or Champagne Birthday is the day which equals your birthday day and age. e.g. 24 on the 24th.
